This is one of Nepal's most classic and legendary hikes, and at the same time one of the most accessible in the Himalayas for those who are experienced hikers - not as demanding as Everest Base Camp or the Annapurna Circuit. You move through lush rhododendron forests, terraced fields and small villages where everyday life goes on as it has for generations. Along the way you meet different cultures, from Brahmin and Chhetri in the lower parts to the Gurung and Magar peoples higher up.
The trail follows the Modi Khola valley until the landscape opens up into the majestic Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural amphitheater surrounded by some of the world's highest mountains. Here you stand amidst peaks like Annapurna I and the sacred Machhapuchhre, which may not be climbed. Although we reach an altitude of 4,130 meters, the mountains feel closer than on many other major trekking routes. It is grand, peaceful and moving.
On one and the same trip you also get to experience both Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as the jungle in Chitwan National Park.

You arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu where a member of our team meets you and drives you to your hotel. After you have settled in, the rest of the day is free to rest, recover from the journey and prepare for the trek. Later in the evening we gather for an informal dinner.
Moderate to challenging trekking with several long days and varying terrain. The hike goes from subtropical forest to high alpine environment at high altitude. Daily stages are usually between 5 and 8 hours. Good fitness is required. Due to the altitude, the hike may feel 30-50% tougher than the length and elevation gain suggest.
You stay at hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as in simple but charming teahouses during the trek. In Chitwan you stay at a lodge close to nature. The standard varies but offers a genuine experience.
