This is one of Nepal's most classic and legendary treks, and at the same time one of the most accessible in the Himalayas for you who are an experienced hiker - not as demanding as Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit. You move through lush rhododendron forests, terraced fields and small villages where daily life continues as it has for generations. Along the way you meet different cultures, from Brahmin and Chetri in the lower parts to Gurung and Magar people higher up.
The trail follows the Modi Khola valley until the landscape opens up into the mighty Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural amphitheater surrounded by some of the world's highest mountains. Here you stand among peaks like Annapurna I and sacred Machhapuchhre which may not be climbed. Despite reaching 4,130 meters altitude, the mountains feel closer than on many other major trekking routes. It's magnificent, peaceful and moving.
On one and the same trip you also get to experience both Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as the jungle in Chitwan National Park.

Trek to Annapurna Base Camp at 4130 meters altitude
Get really close to the Himalayas' highest peaks
Encounters with several local cultures in villages and temples
Contrasts from jungle to high alpine environment
Relaxation in Kathmandu and Pokhara plus safari in Chitwan
Moderate to demanding trekking with several long days and varying terrain. The trek goes from subtropical forest to high alpine environment with high altitude. Daily stages are usually between 5 and 8 hours. Good fitness is required. Due to altitude, the trek can feel 30-50% tougher than length and ascent suggest.
You stay at hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as at simple but charming teahouses during the trek. In Chitwan you stay at a lodge close to nature. Standards vary but provide a genuine experience.
