The experience of your lifetime awaits in the Himalayas

Nepal is probably on most eager hikers' bucket list. It doesn't get more magnificent than experiencing the world's highest mountains or more beautiful than encountering the ancient culture where people live among the giants. But there are many questions, and in this article we sort out what you should consider and which Nepal trip actually suits you best. And do you even dare to think about Everest Base Camp?

Why should you trek in Nepal?

  • The world's highest mountains! Need we say more?
  • A fascinating culture among Sherpas and Buddhist monasteries
  • Stay in typical teahouses instead of tents
  • Good and reliable infrastructure around hiking and trekking
  • An epic combination of nature, human encounters and authentic adventure

Frequently asked questions about trekking in Nepal

The best period is from March to May and from the end of September to November. Then there's the greatest chance of clear weather.

Common mistakes when choosing a Nepal trek

Everest certainly attracts but biggest isn't always best. It's a tough and long hike to base camp and back, and you will for better or worse share the trail with many sherpas, hikers and climbers from around the world. The purest Himalaya experience can be had in the Annapurna area and here there are also trails that are better suited as a first trip to Nepal. Choose Everest if you want a challenge, to reach the world's highest mountain and walk in the footsteps of legends.

Which Nepal trek should I choose?

The most popular hiking areas in Nepal are the Everest region, northeast of Kathmandu, and the Annapurna area, northwest of the capital. The latter is often combined with safari in tropical Chitwan afterwards. Your choice relates to what experience you want: ultimate Everest or a more accessible and authentic Himalaya experience around Annapurna. Whatever you choose, the trip is framed by some colorful days in Kathmandu.
