This is a hiking trip for you who want to experience the Alps' more genuine and less trafficked sides. You hike through the Lys Valley in Valle d'Aosta, surrounded by open expanses, forests and Monte Rosa's snow-clad peaks. Along the way you pass small mountain villages with clear traces of Walser culture, where architecture, language and traditions live on. Large parts of the hikes take place at least 2000 meters above sea level, with great views and an emotional blend of alpine wilderness and gentle valleys with inviting villages. The accommodations are part of the experience: agriturismi, inns and refuges, lovingly built in stone and larch wood and always with good homemade dishes for dinner.

From the train station in Pont-Saint-Martin, we arrange a short transfer to your first accommodation, Agriturismo Le Soleil. The Gros family welcomes you to this typically Alpine agriturismo, built in stone and larch wood. Here the journey begins promisingly with fresh mountain air and soothing nature. Take a walk in the surroundings or relax on the farm and taste the locally produced goat cheese and a glass of Valdostan wine.
You often move at around 2000 meters altitude in alpine environment, with sometimes rocky and technical trails. The stages are medium-length and offer both substantial ascents and descents. Alternative easier routes are available on certain days. Good fitness and experience with hiking in mountain environments is recommended, but the experience is very rewarding.
One of the trip's many highlights is the small personal accommodations. They are family-run and characteristic, mixing inns in small villages with mountain huts in alpine environments. The standard is consistently good with a warm atmosphere, and they are often built in stone and wood according to local tradition. All accommodations except Rifugio La Barma have double rooms with private bathrooms. During high season, alternative accommodations of the same standard may occur. Breakfast and dinner are served at the accommodation and you get a packed lunch for all hiking days.
