This is a trip for you who want to experience two of Italy's most characteristic regions on foot. The hike begins in Piemonte, where rolling vineyards, truffle traditions and medieval villages alternate among the hills of Langhe. Here you hike through Barolo's world-famous wine landscape and stay overnight in charming small towns with views over the vineyards. Then the landscape gradually changes as you cross the mountains towards Liguria. High mountain ridges, beech forests and extensive views over the Alps lead you all the way to the Mediterranean. The journey ends along the flower-lined riviera with turquoise sea, pastel-colored coastal towns and beautiful hiking trails above the sea. An unusually varied hiking week where gastronomy, nature and Italian joie de vivre go hand in hand.

Welcome to Alba, the capital of the famous wine region of Langhe and the birthplace of the Slow Food culture. Stroll through the historic city center with its cobblestone alleys, elegant squares and inviting wine bars. Alba is known for its truffles, its gastronomic traditions and proximity to some of Italy's most appreciated wine regions. What fewer people know is that Ferrero also comes from here, with confections like Nutella, Kinder eggs and Ferrero-Rocher. It's okay to be a little childish sometimes! Take the opportunity to start the week with a good dinner and a glass of local wine before the hiking adventure begins.
The hiking goes on gravel roads, forest paths, hiking trails and mountain paths. Daily stages are 14–20 km with up to approximately 700 meters of elevation gain. The terrain is varied but rarely technically difficult. Some sure footing is required on shorter sections in the mountains. Suitable for experienced everyday exercisers who appreciate several days of hiking in hilly terrain.
You stay at pleasant hotels along the way, mainly mid-range with good comfort and personal atmosphere. The journey begins with one night at a four-star hotel in Alba and then continues at selected three-star hotels in smaller villages and coastal towns. The accommodations are well chosen to provide proximity to hiking and local culture. In July and August you may stay two nights in Sanremo instead of one there and one in Albenga.
