Here you live at the foot of Europe's highest mountains and with France and Switzerland just a mountain pass away. The result is a stimulating mixed culture where both Italian and French are spoken and the cuisine is particularly delicious. The wines also become very tasty in the alpine air.

The difficulty level is moderate. Elevation differences occur, but the stages are not longer than you have time to enjoy the surroundings. You walk mostly on well-marked trails and paths as well as small gravel roads. Some days the circular walks may feel more demanding.
Stay at charming, family-run hotels and agriturismo with homely atmosphere and personal service. All rooms have toilet/shower/bath except one. Breakfast is included every day as well as seven dinners, so you can relax after the day's walks.

Hiking in Valle d'AostaBasic setup quite okay but great potential for improvement; skip transport hiking, make sure there are always alternative hiking routes through good proper maps. In Val Maira you got a proper map and could adjust based on weather and ability to get around. Please give suggestions for possibilities to extend, some routes ridiculously short at about 12k.
