A magnificent circular hike through the heart of Vanoise National Park, with glaciers, high passes and classic alpine villages. For a week you hike in France's first national park, around both the Vanoise glaciers – the Alps' largest continuous ice area – and the mighty Grande Casse massif, Savoy's highest mountain at 3,855 meters above sea level. If you have skied in Val d'Isere or Val Thorens and longed for the great mountains behind, this is the trip for you.
This is a physical but very rewarding hiking trip for the enthusiast. You can choose between walking with light day packing and transport of the rest of your luggage, or as an independent adventurer with everything on your back. In the evening, a welcoming mountain hut awaits with dinner, bed and breakfast, while you also get to recover a couple of nights at a hotel with breakfast. The environment is wild but the trails are easy to navigate and give you access to some of the Alps' most varied and dramatic environments: from high alpine passes to green valleys and lively mountain villages like Pralognan-la-Vanoise, Champagny-le-Haut and Tignes.

8 Breakfasts and 6 Dinners included
You arrive at your first accommodation and are welcomed by the host. If you're staying at Refuge de l'Orgère, where tomorrow's hike begins, you take the local bus from Modane train station. If you're staying in Modane instead, you take the bus the next morning. Timetables are included in your travel materials.
The trip is intended for very experienced hikers and holds level 4 out of 5. The daily stages are long and hilly, averaging around 20 km and 1,000 meters of elevation. The hiking is self-guided without a guide in wild areas, and you are responsible for navigation, pace and safety. For this reason, the trip can only be booked by at least 2 people. You receive comprehensive material from us with detailed maps, guidance and GPS tracks. Read our equipment tips carefully before the trip.
This is a real trekking trip where you stay in mountain huts in multi-bed rooms. The huts include breakfast and dinner, and lunch packages can be pre-ordered by us or on site. In Tignes and the last night after the hike, you stay in double rooms at a 2-star hotel with breakfast. There are restaurants nearby for dinner.
NOTE the basic price does not include luggage transport, for those who want to do a real trek and carry everything in their backpack. You can choose convenient luggage transport when booking if you instead want to walk with light day packing and have your luggage delivered to each accommodation.
