Northern Portugal is the cradle of the country, and the journey begins in Porto – "the unconquered city" – with its winding medieval alleys, long traditions and famous port wines. Here you get to know everything from Tawny and Ruby to LBV and Vintage. The journey continues along the Douro River, where the landscape transforms into rolling terraced vineyards, shaped by people over the centuries. By train or boat, you follow the river further into the valley to Foz Côa, known for its prehistoric rock carvings and its wild, beautiful landscape. From Porto's lively alleys and markets to small villages and traditional wineries, known as quintas, you get to experience the best of northern Portugal's landscapes, flavors and relaxed lifestyle.
