This extension trip offers a few days on the island of Sal, which is perfect as a finish after the hikes on Santo Antão. Here, green valleys and mountain trails are exchanged for white sandy beaches, turquoise sea and a pleasant pace. Sal got its name from the historical salt extraction, but today it's the beaches and the sea that attract. You stay in Santa Maria on the south coast, a lively but relaxed coastal town with a long beach promenade, restaurants and good opportunities for both rest and activities. It's then convenient to fly home directly from Sal.

Upon arrival in Sal, you're greeted by the island's open, sunny landscape and the constant nearness of the sea. Sal has been shaped by salt extraction for over a hundred years, but today it is Cape Verde's premier beach island. From the airport you'll be transferred to Santa Maria on the south coast, where you check in at your hotel and have the rest of the day free to settle into holiday mode. Perhaps a first stroll along the beach or a dip in the Atlantic.

This is an extension without planned hikes. The focus is entirely on rest, beach life and optional activities after a week of proper hiking on the other islands in the archipelago.
You stay in Santa Maria, Sal's most popular coastal town. You can choose between Standard (Da Luz Hotel***) and Comfort (Hotel Morabeza**** with sea view). Regardless of which one, they are close to the beach, restaurants and the beach promenade. Here you'll find the possibility for both relaxation by the pool or sea and a lively local scene within walking distance.
