This trip takes you from glamorous Deauville and Trouville on to picturesque flower town Honfleur – and ends at D-Day landing beaches near Bayeux. You hike through gentle landscapes, coastal meadows, lush forests and over cliffs where the wings of history can be felt in every step. You arrive on your own to Trouville-sur-Mer, a charming little coastal town known for its fishing harbor and wide sandy beach. Here the journey begins with Normandy's classic sea breeze, wooden piers and beautiful villas.
The landscape is flat with at most moderate elevation differences. The hikes go on well-marked trails, country roads and coastal paths. The surface varies between forest trail, beach, meadowland and cliffs. The distances are about 10–13 km per day and suit you with normal basic fitness.
You stay at pleasant mid-range hotels in both Trouville and Bayeux. In Trouville the atmosphere is coastal and relaxed, with restaurants and beach promenade around the corner. In Bayeux you stay near the town's medieval center, the Gothic cathedral and the museum with the Bayeux Tapestry.
