Puglia with Salento at the very bottom of the heel in southeastern Italy has a colorful history after having belonged to several peoples who have all contributed to the region's distinctive dialect, flavorful cuisine and special architecture. This is perhaps Italy's best-kept cycling secret. This cycling trip starts and ends in the beautiful baroque city of Lecce.
The cycling takes you from the white town of Otranto via the conical roofs of Alberobello's trulli houses. Then to the enchanting white sandy beaches near Gallipoli. Enjoy the wonderful cycling tours through a sparsely populated landscape with olive groves, Mediterranean nature and beautiful coastal roads. The cycling is of easy or moderate character with some shorter uphill sections.

Level and standard
Easy to moderate character, with mostly pleasant cycling and some shorter uphill sections. You follow well-paved country roads and smaller roads with little traffic. Day 2 and 6 offer somewhat more undulating terrain, but otherwise the stages are even and manageable.
Accommodation
Choose between accommodation at 3- or 4-star hotels, with lovely relaxation after the day's cycling. In the higher accommodation category you get to stay in a typical Trullo in Alberobello, a memorable experience with local character. Breakfast is included every day, so you start cycling with energy.
