Apulia with Salento at the very tip of the heel in southeastern Italy has a colorful history, having belonged to several peoples who have all contributed to the region's distinctive dialect, flavorful cuisine, and unique architecture. This may well be Italy's best-kept cycling secret. This cycling trip begins and ends in the beautiful baroque city of Lecce.
Explore the beautiful beaches and charming small towns. From Otranto to the enchanting white sandy beaches near Gallipoli, through sparsely populated ancient olive groves, Mediterranean food and coastal roads with views that will make you fall in love.
The cycling is easy to moderate, with a few shorter uphill sections along the high coastal road between Santa Maria de Leuca and Otranto on day 4. Choose between two different accommodation categories - character hotels or boutique hotels.

Level and standard
Easy to moderate, mostly easy cycling with a few shorter uphill sections. You cycle mainly on good paved country roads and smaller roads with little traffic. One day, between S.M di Leuca and Otranto, is hillier but one of the week's cycling highlights.
This trip is available in two different accommodation categories: Standard with 3-star hotels and equivalent B&Bs, and Comfort with hotels of 4-star standard. Choose the option that suits your style and budget for an extra comfortable cycling experience.
