Welcome to a diverse cycling trip with some of northern Italy's most iconic places. From Tuscany's cultural heritage to Liguria's dramatic coast, you start in Pisa with its famous tower, cycle along the Versilia coast and continue to Lucca – a city surrounded by impressive city walls. The journey then goes north to Garfagnana and Carrara's white marble mountains, before you finish by the sea in La Spezia, the gateway to Cinque Terre.
On the last day you swap your bike for hiking boots and discover the five world-famous villages along the cliffs on foot - one of the world's most spectacular hiking trails. The combination of cycling, hiking, sea, history and Italian food makes this a trip filled with variety and enjoyment.

Arrival in Pisa, the beautiful university city by the river Arno. In the evening, a personal welcome meeting is held where you receive all practical information and your bicycle. Take the opportunity to stroll through the historic quarters, see Piazza dei miracoli with the leaning tower, baptistery and cathedral – all listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Level & standard
Easy to moderate. Most days go on flat or gently rolling terrain. Occasional longer climbs, especially day 5. The stages are 30–55 km per day plus one hiking day in rolling terrain. Suitable for cyclists with normal fitness.
Accommodation
You stay at selected 3-4-star hotels with local character and bike-friendly service. In Pisa and Lucca you stay centrally near the historic squares, while Garfagnana offers tranquility among the green mountains of the Apuan Alps. Along the coast, comfortable hotels near the sea await, often with terraces or gardens where you can relax after the day's stage.
