Experience the best of Sicily's north coast – from mythical Taormina to charming Cefalù. This self-guided cycling trip takes you through coastal towns, citrus groves and cliff landscapes with the glittering Tyrrhenian Sea by your side. You pass the Strait of Messina, gaze out towards Calabria and reach Milazzo, the gateway to the Aeolian Islands. Here you can rest, or take a boat trip to the painfully beautiful Lipari or Vulcano. The journey continues along beautiful serpentine roads to the sanctuary in Tindari and on to Cefalù – a city where Norman mosaics and Sicilian joie de vivre meet. A journey filled with sea views, culture and Mediterranean atmosphere.

Arrival in Giardini Naxos, Taormina's seaside resort, on your own. Briefing of the trip and bike fitting. Evening swim and overnight stay in Giardini Naxos.
Level & Standard
Mostly flat cycling along the coast with some major climbs (day 2 and 5). The stages are 55–80 km per day and the climbs 350-850 m. Paved roads, suitable for you with good normal fitness and some cycling experience. More traffic around Messina, otherwise quiet traffic and some cycle paths.
Accommodation
Comfortable 3–4-star hotels by or near the sea. All with breakfast, often sea view and walking distance to restaurants.
