Join us on a journey of discovery to one of Italy's best-kept secrets. Calabria forms the toe of the Italian boot and enchants with pristine environments far from mass tourism. Ciclovia dei Parchi della Calabria is one of the country's more spectacular cycling routes, following Calabria's mountain ridge and connecting the region's major national parks. Here you roll through Pollino's dramatic mountains, past medieval villages where Greek and Albanian are still spoken, and onward into Sila's deep forests. The landscape alternates between barren heights and gentle hills, and everywhere you are met with genuine hospitality.
This is a journey through both nature and several layers of history: Greek and Roman traces, Albanian minority cultures and living craft traditions. And then the food: rustic, flavorful and characterized by local cheeses, wild herbs and the fiery 'nduja. An active journey in southern Italy where nature, culture and everyday life are woven together into a unique cycling experience.

You arrive in Campotenese, the gateway to the Pollino mountains. The journey begins with a personal briefing at La Catasta, the official visitor center of Pollino National Park. The modern wooden building houses exhibitions, maps and local products and provides an introduction to the area's nature and traditions. Here the tone is set for the week in Calabria.
This is a moderately challenging cycling trip with daily stages of 25–65 km. The route goes through mountain and highland plateau landscapes with recurring climbs, especially towards Sila. You cycle mostly on paved country roads with limited traffic. Good basic fitness is recommended, especially for the longer alternatives.
You stay at a hand-picked combination of agriturismi, smaller 3–4-star hotels and B&Bs with local character. Several accommodations are located close to nature or in historic settings and provide a genuine feel of Calabria. The comfort is good and breakfast is included every day.
