This journey takes you from Munich's elegant avenues to the olive groves at Lake Garda – on two wheels straight across the Alps. You follow lakes, valleys and lush cycle paths through three countries and three regions: German Bavaria, Austrian Tyrol and Italian South Tyrol. The route goes via Leutasch valley, over magnificent Passo Resia and the fruit orchards in Vinschgau before you roll all the way down to Merano and onward towards Trento and shimmering blue Garda. It's safe, beautiful and just the right level of challenge – the big climbs are taken by bus, the rest you cycle at your own pace through some of the Alps' most iconic landscapes.

Bavaria's capital offers visitors a rich selection of attractions – from the expansive Englischer Garten and the historic town hall to the iconic Hofbräuhaus. Here there's plenty of time to enjoy the city's lively atmosphere before the cycling journey begins. Be sure to have dinner in Altstadt with a frothy stop beer.
Level & standard
The cycling is of medium level and suits you with normal fitness who wants to cycle many days in a row. However, it's possible to book extra nights along the way for a rest day or two. The surface is mostly paved cycle paths and quiet side roads, with some longer sections on well-maintained gravel roads. The climbs are modest for an Alpine crossing, and the big climb over Passo Resia is taken by bus. Daily stages are 40–70 km and vary somewhat depending on which hotel standard you choose.
You can choose between 3-star (Comfort) or 4-star hotels (Charm). With Charm you get several hotels with pool, Spa, design profile and best location. All accommodations are carefully selected with regard to location, comfort and a good breakfast. Several hotels have bike rooms, terraces and proximity to restaurants and walking paths.
