If you've seen one vineyard, you've seen them all, some say. But how many breweries have you visited? Craft beer is trendy and truly fun. The variety of flavors is at least as great as with wine. And a frothy stein is unbeatably thirst-quenching after a day of cycling. Alsace's secret is that the local food pairs even better with beer. Taste for yourself!
Welcome to an original cycling trip that straddles France and Germany with the local breweries' passion and craftsmanship as its theme. The tour starts in Strasbourg and passes through fields of "green gold" hops, charming villages and towns like Ettlingen and Karlsruhe in Baden-Württemberg. You continue cycling through the green forests of the Northern Vosges and the Haguenau area.
Along the way, meetings await with dedicated brewers and tastings of the region's best beers. Every stop tells a story of tradition and love for the art of brewing. With well-signposted cycle paths and small roads, the journey becomes an enjoyable experience.
NOTE most brewers are open for visits Thursday-Friday, so please plan your travel dates around that.

Welcome to Strasbourg! After checking in at the hotel, you can start exploring the city's highlights. Admire the mighty Gothic cathedral, stroll through the historic city centre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and settle down at one of the city's many breweries or restaurants to try local beers together with classic Alsatian food.
Level & Standard
Alsace is one of France's leading cycling regions, with lovely bike paths and country roads for relaxed cycling with good signage. Day 3 is the hilliest.
You stay at selected mid-range (3-star) accommodations with a good location in the cities. Breakfast is included every day.
