Beer & Bike in Alsace

Welcome to Strasbourg! After checking in at the hotel, you can start exploring the city's highlights. Admire the mighty Gothic cathedral, stroll through the historic city center (UNESCO World Heritage site) and settle down at one of the city's many breweries or restaurants to try local beer varieties along with classic Alsatian cuisine.

You cycle along beautiful bike paths that follow the Rhine and across the fertile plain. Today's destination is Haguenau, a lively small town with medieval origins. Don't miss Hop Hall, a beautiful building that was formerly used to dry and store hops – a piece of brewery history up close.

Today's stage offers gently rolling landscape and charming villages. Take the opportunity to stop at La Brasserie d'Uberach for a guided tour with tasting. In Neuwiller you can visit the Romanesque monastery church Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul before rolling on to Saverne – the town where the bishops of Strasbourg had their residence. Here awaits the magnificent Château des Rohan, often called "Alsace's little Versailles", and the idyllic Marne–Rhine canal that flows through the town.

A flat and easy-to-cycle stage along EuroVelo 5 and the Marne–Rhine canal. Along the way you pass small villages and green landscapes. The highlight is a stop at Villa Meteor in Hochfelden – France's oldest, still family-owned brewery – where you can take a tour and taste their beer. Before reaching central Strasbourg you pass the districts where Europe's institutions are headquartered, including the European Parliament.

After breakfast the trip ends and the journey home or further adventures begin.
