La Palma is lovingly called by its inhabitants La isla bonita - the beautiful island – and it's easy to understand why. On this varied hiking trip you experience the island's entire dramatic spectrum: from lush laurel and cloud forests in the north to lava fields, volcanic craters and deep ravines in the south. You hike along old Camino Real trails through peaceful agricultural landscapes, pass banana plantations and reach some of the island's most iconic places, such as the Jurassic Park-like Caldera de Taburiente national park and the volcanic trail Ruta de los Volcanes. Carefully selected hotels and well-marked trails combined with unique views that etch themselves into memory make this a magnificent hiking trip.

Arrival at La Palma airport. Taxi waiting to take you to Santa Cruz de la Palma, the island's lively and charming colonial capital. You stay in the historic district, opposite the black lava beach. Time to land, walk along the sea and feel the island's special atmosphere.
This is a moderately demanding hiking trip with great variation. The trails are well-marked but the terrain is sometimes steep and hilly, with long ascents and descents. The surface varies between paths, lava fields, gravel roads and forest trails. The daily stages average 12 km with 500 meters of elevation per day. The trip suits you with good basic fitness and some experience of hiking in mountain environments. It is possible to add a transfer package that shortens several of the days.
You stay at carefully selected hotels with good locations for hiking, personal atmosphere and consistently good comfort. All rooms have private bathrooms. In Santa Cruz you stay in a charming hotel with traditional Canarian architecture near the sea. In Barlovento, a family-run mountain hotel awaits, surrounded by laurel and pine forests, with views towards both sea and mountains. In Los Llanos you stay centrally in a modern, tasteful hotel with roof terrace and small pool – perfect for recovery after hiking days.
