Two islands, two worlds, two national parks, and plenty of the Canary Islands. Versatile Tenerife and small, green La Gomera are a classic combination for winter sun hiking. You can easily reach Tenerife by flight and stay in one of Spain's highest-situated villages, Vilaflor, where you hike through pine forests and remarkable lava formations at Paisaje Lunar and majestic Teide. Then you take the ferry across the strait to tranquil and lush La Gomera. Here await Garajonay's ancient laurel forests, dramatic valleys, terrace farming, and exceptionally beautiful hikes with the sea constantly in view. You walk in complete freedom on your own with hotels, luggage transport, transfers, and ferries arranged. With a pleasant hiking climate year-round, this is a paradise for hiking in environments you won't find anywhere else in Europe.

Welcome to Tenerife and the beginning of a week that will showcase two very different sides of the Canary Islands. Upon arrival at Tenerife Sur, a transfer awaits up from the coast to Vilaflor, beautifully situated at around 1,400 meters altitude on the slopes below El Teide. Here, the coastal tourist resorts are replaced by pine forest, cultivated land, and fresh mountain air. You check in at your comfortable hotel with garden and pool and have the rest of the day to settle in, explore the village, and gear up for tomorrow's first hike.
Level and accommodation
Moderate hiking with large variations between the days. The hikes average about 11 km and 300 meters of elevation. However, several days have long descents of up to 1400 meters. The terrain varies between fine trails, gravel roads, rocky sections, and stone staircases.
You stay at comfortable smaller hotels with private bathrooms. In Vilaflor a tranquil hotel awaits in a natural setting with garden and pool, while the accommodation on La Gomera has a more small-scale and local character. On the last night you stay centrally in San Sebastián de la Gomera, within walking distance of the ferry harbor. The accommodations are chosen as much for location and atmosphere as for formal standard.
