This is a hike in beautiful South Tyrol, in the heart of the Trentino Alto Adige region where Austrian and Italian cultures blend together into an exceptionally pleasant and charming mix.
The hike follows the 'chestnut route', a hiking trail that runs in the shadows of the Dolomites and offers fantastic views over a landscape adorned with castles, farms and historic buildings. You pass through fruit orchards and vineyards where some of Italy's best wines are produced.
Along the way you visit picturesque villages like the artists' village of Chiusa and lively cities like Bolzano, the gateway to the Dolomites.

Arrival on your own to Bressanone and check-in at your hotel. Bressanone is a colorful, lively city and the oldest in all of Tyrol.
Accommodation in Bressanone
Easy to moderate character on well-marked trails. Several stages can be shortened, and two days are circular walks. One day offers a longer descent that may be felt in the legs, but there is also a shorter variant.
You stay at selected 3-4 star hotels and agriturismos with good standard and pleasant atmosphere. Rooms have private shower and toilet for comfort. Breakfast is included every morning, and some accommodations have pools - perfect for relaxing after the day's hike.

Tougher than we thought, we have previously hiked on Gran Canaria with you and it's tough there, but some of the climbs on Kastanjedalen were on par with GC. We don't use the hiking guide but followed the GPS track
