Today there are over 200 breweries producing everything from fresh wheat beers to powerful tripels and quadrupels. On this popular trip you follow quiet cycle paths through Flanders and discover some of the country's most famous beer regions, while passing national parks, heathland, forests and charming historic towns. From the university city of Leuven and diamond city of Antwerp to smaller gems like Peer and Diest, both culture and gastronomy await. You make your own way to Genk, where you receive a friendly welcome at the hotel. After check-in, there's time to settle into the trip and perhaps take a walk through the pleasant Molenvijver Park before dinner. Here begins your cycling week through Flanders, with Belgian beer culture, beautiful landscapes and several of the region's most spectacular cycle paths ahead of you.
Level and accommodation
The cycling is mainly on paved cycle paths and smaller country roads with very little car traffic. The landscape is pleasantly flat with some gently rolling sections around Leuven. The daily stages are between 44 and 75 km, making the trip suitable for recreational cyclists with normal to good fitness. Electric bikes are available for rent for those who want to make the days even more comfortable.
Accommodation
You stay in comfortable 3- and 4-star hotels with private bathrooms. The hotels are centrally located or close to nature and offer a good base after the day's cycling. Breakfast buffet is included every morning.
