A pleasant walking trip from Motovun, the heart of Istria in northern Croatia, to Opatija which is an elegant coastal resort on the beautiful Adriatic coast. The region's turbulent history is reflected in varying monuments, architectural styles, food and even in the language.
The Italian influences from nearby Venice are unmistakable and the rolling landscape and the elevated medieval villages remind of central Italy thirty years ago. Walk through small vineyards and olive groves. Early mornings you might encounter the truffle hunters with their dogs in the lush oak forests.
You stay at small, friendly hotels and guesthouses in well-preserved villages where you can taste the local specialties - truffles, fresh fish, homemade pasta and delicious wines.

Arrival to the famous town of Motovun which is located on top of a mountain in the heart of Istria. Check in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day in the town filled with beautiful cobblestone streets, gardens and green surroundings.

The hikes are of moderate character on mostly well-marked trails through beautiful nature and small villages. Daily stages usually take between four and seven hours. Day 2 is the longest and most demanding stage, while other days offer an even, pleasant pace.

Accommodation is a pleasant mix of 2 - 4 star hotels and personal guesthouses, complemented by genuine agriturismos in Sovinjak. All rooms have shower and toilet. Breakfast is served every morning and 2 dinners as well as 2 lunch packs are included for extra convenience.
