The magnificent Lake District Trail takes you from England's largest lake Lake Windermere through the central and eastern parts of the lake district to the market town of Keswick. You hike to peaceful valleys, spectacular mountain passes, beautiful lakes and hidden small tarns. You also pass Grasmere, William Wordsworth's hometown. Via Grisdale Valley and the rocky Helvellyn Range peaks you head towards the small village of Patterdale by Ullswater, perhaps Britain's most beautiful lake. You then make an inspiring hike through Bordedale Valley before the journey ends in Keswick which is dominated by the Skiddaw peak. After the hikes you get a warm welcome at charming B&Bs and Country Inns and a full English breakfast the next morning.

Level and standard
The hikes are of medium to lightly challenging character. You should have good fitness, be able to move through natural terrain and be comfortable where the path is sometimes absent. The stages Ambleside-Patterdale and onwards towards Keswick are longer and more hilly, but are rewarded with unforgettable views along the Lake District Trail.
Accommodation
Charming Bed & Breakfast, guesthouses and Country Inns welcome you after the day's hiking with warm English hospitality. A hearty breakfast is served every morning. Most of your accommodations are happy to arrange packed lunches on request (book the evening before). You eat dinner either at your accommodation or nearby.
