This hiking trip with the finest of southern Tuscany goes partly along Via Francigena, the historic pilgrimage route that linked Canterbury with Rome. In Italy, the route passes through several regions and notable cities like Siena with its beautiful shell-shaped square.
From Siena you make your way through the postcard image of Tuscany with its well-preserved medieval villages and small towns like Buonconvento, San Quirico and Montalcino with its magnificent Brunello wine. You also have the opportunity to visit the beautiful monastery church Sant Antimo, as well as Bagno Vignoni with its hot springs which is a little gem. The rolling landscape with cypress-lined gravel roads, beautiful Val d'Orcia and the moon-like Crete Senesi make this hike an unforgettable and very Tuscan experience.

Arrival in Siena and check-in at your hotel. Enjoy the city's beautiful historic center with Piazza del Campo and Duomo. Stroll around the small alleys and soak up the atmosphere in this Italian gem.
Accommodation in Siena
Level and standard
The hikes are of moderate character, mainly along trails and gravel roads at a pleasant pace. Elevation differences occur, especially day 4 which feels more demanding. The trails are well-marked and on the last day there is an optional shorter hike for those who want it.
You stay at 3-star hotels as well as corresponding guesthouses or agriturismo, with comfortable rooms and private toilet/shower/bath. Breakfast is included every morning. The accommodations are pleasant and provide a relaxing base between the hikes. Your luggage is collected from 08:30 and delivered to the next accommodation by 4:00 PM. Max 1 piece per person up to 65x40x30 cm and 20 kg.
