During the Middle Ages, Francis of Assisi walked along the ridges and valleys of the Apennines. There he searched for God's signs in nature and spoke with people about peace, humility and brotherhood.
On this journey, you follow parts of the routes he covered during his pilgrimages. You combine history and culture with good food & drink and beautiful surroundings. You get the opportunity to explore the myth of Francis and learn more about his time while hiking through lush forests, olive groves, vineyards and grain fields in the typical Umbrian landscape.

Arrival in Città di Castello and check-in at your first hotel. Feel free to explore this charming town, taste a glass of Montefalco wine and admire monuments from Roman times.

Level and standard
Easy to moderate in partly hilly terrain. Most of the hiking takes place on gravel roads, forest paths and trails through farmland. Some stages are longer or more hilly, and certain days offer alternatives, but steady walking and normal fitness are sufficient.
Accommodation
Comfortable 3-star hotels or equivalent agriturismo with simple comfort and local charm. All rooms have shower/wc and breakfast is included, except in Valfabbrica. Two dinners are included and give a taste of the region - perfect after the day's hike.
