After a short transfer you hike through a pleasant forest area to Pietralunga, a rural village located 566 meters above sea level. The old community has steep, narrow streets and here it is really worth visiting the churches Madonna dei Rimedi and Pieve di Urbino.
NOTE. You can be dropped off at two different places with the morning transfer and thus decide whether you want a shorter or longer hike.

From Pietralunga you hike through a beautiful landscape with fine panoramic views. You pass the monasteries San Pietro and San Benedetto which were once important for pilgrims. The final stretch to Gubbio is by taxi. Gubbio is a very beautiful, well-preserved medieval town with many impressive buildings and churches. Many of the traditional festivities that Gubbio has always had are still honored today.

Today's hike is relatively long and goes along the hills that separate Gubbio from Valfabbrica. The route offers fantastic views to Mt. Sibillini and goes through the beautiful countryside in the heart of Umbria. Walk through the valley on the "Sentiero Francescano" to Valfabbrica. The quiet little town of Valfabbrica was an important fortress in medieval times and even today the tower and part of the walls are still well preserved.
NOTE. It is possible to shorten the hike by about 2 km with a transfer.

Today's hike takes you from Valfabbrica further along Umbria's beautiful hills. At the end of the slopes you can enjoy the landscape around you with forests, fields, country houses, parish churches with the Apennine peaks in the background. When you find yourself at a wonderful panoramic point over the hills, Assisi will appear in the middle of the trail.
