Cycle the Romantic Road

Romantische Strasse is a varied cycling route with both flat sections and recurring uphill and downhill stretches. The stages are 35–65 km and mostly go on small country roads, cycle paths and forest trails. This is a trip for you with normal to good fitness who enjoys slightly hilly terrain.

Romantische Strasse equals coziness and we try to reflect this in our choice of hotels as well. They are centrally located and offer pleasant rooms and generous breakfasts. In the larger cities you stay at comfortable hotels while cozy inns await in the smaller towns. Choose between two standard levels:

Standard means carefully selected inns and mid-range hotels equivalent to three stars. Here you stay simply but comfortably, often in smaller family-run accommodations with a personal atmosphere.

Comfort means a higher comfort level, with selected three–four–star hotels and better gasthofs. Here you can expect more modern rooms, extra amenities and sometimes a more central location in the cities.
