Asturias is one of Spain's greenest corners – a region where dramatic limestone cliffs meet the Atlantic, small sandy beaches hide in sheltered coves and the landscape constantly shifts between coast, meadows and lush countryside. On this hiking trip you follow coastal paths and quiet inland roads from town to town, with accommodation in charming coastal towns and villages like Llanes, Nueva, Ribadesella and Colunga.
During the week you pass spectacular natural phenomena like Bufones de Pría – natural blowholes that spray water in rough weather – and the strange inland beach Gulpiyuri. At the same time you walk partly on Camino del Norte, the northern pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The trip offers generous hikes, plenty of swimming opportunities and evenings filled with cider, fish and rustic mountain stews in cozy fishing villages.

The hikes are moderately demanding and suitable for you with normal fitness. The terrain varies between coastal paths, gravel roads, smaller paved roads and sandy beaches. The stages are generous but can often be shortened with taxi or bus. Daily stages are usually between about 12 and 20 km, with moderate elevation differences and as many breaks as you want along the way.
You stay at carefully selected hotels with personal character and very good locations near coast and town life. Several accommodations are classic "Casa de Indianos" – magnificent houses built by emigrants who returned from America. All rooms have private bathroom and breakfast is included.
