Mount Everest Base Camp is the place where adventures both begin and end. Climbers and sherpas await their ascent or rest after success or defeat. The place is steeped in myths and legends, dreams and tragedies. For the trekker, the camp is a pilgrimage site and the culmination of one of life's greatest hiking experiences.
The journey begins in colourful Kathmandu, while the trek starts in Lukla, already at 2,800 metres above sea level. Then follow many long days as we walk ever deeper into the Himalayas along old trade routes now travelled by mountain people from all over the world. We stay in teahouses and meet the warmth, strength and spirituality of the Sherpa people, which gives the journey a human dimension that matches the epic landscape well. In the end, we stand at our goal and can experience the sunrise from Kala Patthar as Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse are coloured by the morning light. Here we stand between heaven and earth.

You arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, where you are met by a representative from our team and driven to your hotel. After check-in, the rest of the day is free to relax, recover from the journey and prepare for the trek. Later in the evening we gather for an informal welcome dinner.
This is a physically demanding trek at high altitude. The daily stages are long, and the terrain varies between trails, rocky sections and glacier-adjacent landscapes. Acclimatisation is an important part of the programme, and due to the altitude the trek can feel 50% tougher than the length and elevation gain suggest. Suitable for you with good fitness and experience of hiking several days in a row. Read more about the trip's requirements below.
You stay in a hotel in Kathmandu and in traditional teahouses along the trek. The standard is simple but functional, with shared spaces and a genuine atmosphere. The location and the experience are what make the accommodation special.
