From mountains and medieval villages to orange groves, wetlands, and the Mediterranean – this cycling trip is a bit like a crash course in everything the Valencia region has to offer best. You start inland around Biar and Villena, largely following cycle paths on old railway tracks toward the coast. Along the way await Bocairent's winding medieval alleys, the mountain scenery of Sierra de Mariola, the dramatic Serpis Gorge, and the monastery in Simat de la Valldigna. As the mountains flatten out, rice fields, orange groves, and the bird-rich lagoons of Albufera take over. After five varied days of cycling, you finally roll into Valencia – suitably hungry for paella and city life.

Tour Highlights
Pleasant cycling on Via Verdes: car-free former railway tracks.
Discover the medieval charm of Bocairent with its narrow alleys and impressive caves.
Enjoy the spectacular views from Alcoi's historic buildings and colorful markets.
Follow the bike path along Cullera's beautiful beach and admire the blue waters of the Mediterranean.
End the trip in the wonderful orange city of Valencia.

6 Breakfasts included
The trip begins in Biar or Villena, depending on which accommodation is available. Here in the inland of the Valencia region, you get a first taste of the area's long history. Biar is a small town with an impressive cultural heritage, crowned by its well-preserved castle from the 12th century. Take a walk through the old quarter's labyrinth of narrow streets, small squares and churches, and settle into the Spanish pace. Towards evening, bars and restaurants await where you can start getting acquainted with the local cuisine. The cycling adventure truly begins tomorrow.
Level and standard
Easy to moderate cycling with modest distances and climbs. About two-thirds runs along Via Verde, traffic-free former railway tracks, with the rest mainly on small, quiet roads. Gravel occurs, and on day 4 there is also a hillier alternative route.
You stay in a fine mix of carefully selected 3- and 4-star hotels, rural accommodations, and B&Bs. The focus is on comfort and local character rather than large standardized hotels. The standard varies slightly between the towns, but several nights clearly hold a four-star level, and breakfast is included every morning.
