Coastal Hiking in Puglia

Hike on Italy's heel with surprising baths and beautiful small towns. The hike begins in Otranto, the gateway to the Orient and with atmosphere of Greece. From here you reach Italy's easternmost point Punta Palascia. Continue to the bathing bay Porto Badisco and Cesarea Terme where healing spring water together with sun and sea has been used for medicinal purposes since Roman times. Your progress is counted through the ancient watchtowers that guard the coast at regular intervals. Make a detour inland on old donkey paths with wild fig trees and large olive groves. The final stretch goes along the magnificent Cipolliane trail, before you take the train to the beautiful baroque city Lecce - a worthy end to the journey.
