Wine Hiking in Champagne

Welcome to Épernay, the wine capital of the Champagne region. After check-in, you have time to stroll around the town and discover the famous Avenue de Champagne with its impressive Champagne houses. Magnificent Moët, hospitable Mercier, family-friendly Boizel and Winston Churchill's favorite Pol Roger, just to name a few. Wonder what the aperitif will be today? End the evening with dinner at one of the city's many pleasant restaurants, where French culinary culture reigns supreme.

After a good breakfast, the day begins with a gentle climb up to Mardeuil. Then you cross the canal to Cumières and continue to Hautvillers – one of the most beautiful villages in the area. Here you wander through winding alleys that lead out to forests and vineyards. Also take the opportunity to visit the church where Dom Pérignon himself is buried. Finally, you return to Épernay along the Canal de la Marne and enjoy another night at your hotel. As an option, you can quench your thirst at either a larger or smaller Champagne producer, to get an intimate insight into how this delicious wine is made and taste the noble drops.

The day begins with a walk along the prestigious Avenue de Champagne, where some of the world's most famous Champagne houses line up shoulder to shoulder. Beneath your feet rest no less than 200 million bottles of Champagne in the underground passages – ready to be enjoyed! With this tempting thought in mind, you continue walking through the vineyards towards Chouilly, discovering the charming chapel in Moët's vineyard. On the way back, you climb Mont Bernon (Épernay's highest point at 208 meters) where you are treated to a fantastic view over Montagne de Reims and all the vineyards. A real postcard! Further ahead awaits a magnificent panorama over Épernay. Today too, you can book an exciting visit to a wine producer. Once back in the village, all that remains is the difficult choice of which restaurant will serve your delicious dinner tonight.
