Wine Hiking in Bordeaux

You get taxi transfer from Bordeaux airport or train station (specify in the booking which one) to your first hotel in Saint Emilion.

You begin the hiking week with a walk around St Emillion. This was the first natural, non-architectural site to be inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Hike in the characteristic landscape with rolling hills and small valleys. Everywhere the grapevines grow. After the hike transfer to the next accommodation.

Accommodation in St Emilion 

This excursion day is unique for 8 days / 7 nights (not included in 7 days / 6 nights).

Morning: Private guided visit to one of the oldest vineyards in St Emilion - The Couvent des Jacobins - followed by a wine tasting of 3-4 wines from St Emilion and/or Pomerol. The visit lasts around 1h30.

Afternoon: You will get a guided tour of the city's underground monuments. The visit lasts around 1 hour. The day ends with a transfer to Camiran where you will spend the night. 

Accommodation in Camiran

The Entre-Deux-Mers area, between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers, is a triangle of land, water and stones that surprises us with its cultural variation. You will cross part of this vineyard that benefits from an exceptional geographical location on the slopes that dominate the Garonne Valley. At the end of the afternoon you will arrive at a place along the Garonne Valley, in the heart of the sweet village on the edge of the Garonne river. There you will be met by your transfer that takes you back to your accommodation in Camiran. 

Accommodation in Camiran

You will walk in a landscape of greenery, along the grapevines and the mouth of the Gironde. Castles and fishing huts in the area offer breathtaking sights. You will be able to make a stop at the small harbor and its locks that mark the departure from the famous "Canal du Midi", which connects the Atlantic with the Mediterranean. The hike leads you further to the medieval town of St Macaire. 

Accommodation in Saint Macaire or Langon

Above Saint-Macaire the hills offer fantastic scenic views. In this landscape of hills and small valleys you are surrounded by grapevines, meadows and deciduous trees. The route takes you to "Domaine de Malagar", residence of the author François Mauriac, which you will be able to visit and to the grave of the famous painter Toulouse Lautrec. You will be able to visit Château Laurette or Château Loubens before reaching the village of Sainte Croix du Mont. The village is perched on a slope and offers a spectacular view over the Garonne Valley. After the hike a transfer takes you to your accommodation in Sauternes. 

NOTE - Depending on availability, accommodation can be booked in Barsac or Illats. 

Accommodation in Sauternes

Today you hike along famous wine producers such as Château La Tour Blanche and Château Rayne Vigneau. You will also be able to take part in the local heritage in the form of churches, mills and washhouses as well as varied nature. The landscape is filled with forest, the Ciron river and small wild rivers that were previously used to transport wood. 

Accommodation in Barsac

The trip ends after breakfast. Transfer to Barsac or Langon train station is included.
