Walking around Jersey

The hike begins in Jersey's lively capital St Helier. Take time to explore the city before heading out along the coast. Visit the colorful Central Market hall with fruits, vegetables and flowers, stroll among small shops or peek into Jersey Museum to learn more about the island's history.

You leave St Helier and follow the easy coastal stretch along St Aubin's Bay. At low tide you can walk out to Elizabeth Castle which has defended the island for 400 years. St Aubin is a charming village with colorful houses and harbor cafés – perfect for a break. At the southwestern corner of the island you reach the iconic lighthouse La Corbière. From here you take the bus to St Brelades, where you spend the night before returning to La Pulente the next day to continue.

The day begins with the long sandy beach at St Ouen's Bay – a paradise for surfers and a lovely place to dip your feet. Along the way you pass Le Noir Pré, known as "The Orchid Field" which blooms in May and June. When you reach the island's northwestern corner, the landscape changes dramatically, from wide beaches to rocky bays and steep cliffs.

Now awaits the dramatic northern coast with steep cliffs covered in heather and ferns. The view constantly changes and offers highlights like Devils Hole – a collapsed cave where the sea thunders in. At Sorel Point, Jersey's northernmost headland, views open up to the island of Sark. Private taxi transport (about 15 min) to Gorey Bay where you stay two nights.

After breakfast you get a taxi back to Bouley Bay to continue the hike. You round the northeastern tip where the pastoral agricultural landscape meets the sea. Here you get to greet some of Jersey's happy cows - how could they be otherwise with such lush grass and wild flowers? At Fliquet Bay, Jersey is closest to France, and on clear days Carteret and Portbail are visible. Feel free to stop for a picnic at St Catherine's Bay before continuing to Gorey Bay, which is dominated by the mighty castle Mont Orgueil – perhaps Jersey's premier attraction.

After a long breakfast awaits a shorter hike back towards St Helier. At low tide, Grouville Bay transforms into an almost moon-like landscape with exposed reefs. Here there's an opportunity to book a guide who shows the rich marine life. Along the way you see several of Jersey's round defense towers. The hike ends in St Helier, where one gladly celebrates with delicacies from the sea after having completed the circuit around the island!

After breakfast the trip ends. It's perfectly fine to book extra nights in St Helier to extend the stay.
