Island Hopping on the Jewels of the Bay of Naples

A comfortable shuttle bus runs from both the airport and the train station to the harbor for the short boat trip to Procida. Transfer from the harbor to your hotel. You might have time for a pleasant stroll before settling down at one of the fish restaurants on the island.

Accommodation on Procida

After breakfast the hike begins, and since the island is small, you'll have time to discover almost the entire island in one day. You first walk through small streets up to the historic part of the island, Terra Murata, from where there is a fantastic view. The hike then continues to one of Italy's most picturesque places, the small fishing harbor of Corricella, known from the film Il Postino. You then continue along the green southeastern coastline and arrive at the harbor of Chiaiolella, where there is time for both swimming and rest before you return to your hotel. If you still have energy, you can continue your hike and discover the small island of Vivara, reached via a footbridge. Walking time 3 or 4.5 hours.

Accommodation on Procida

This morning there is some time for new strolls on Procida before you are driven to the harbor to take the boat to Ischia. A taxi meets you and takes you to the hotel, but we suggest you leave your luggage with the driver and look around the harbor before taking a short walk through the town center to the hotel. The evening is best spent at one of the small fish restaurants in Corricella. 

Accommodation on Ischia

Today your hike begins along the island's south coast with terraced vineyards, fantastic lava formations and a wonderful view over the Bay of Naples and Capri. The first part goes through rocky terrain through small villages and terraced vineyards laid out just like Asian rice fields. From the village of Testaccio you continue downward to a larger sandy beach, Marina dei Maronti. Right next to the beach there are several narrow valleys with hot springs from Roman times. If you have time, take a dip! You then continue along the beach towards the fishing village of Sant´Angelo, from where you take a local bus back to the hotel.

Accommodation on Ischia

Today's tour goes over the volcanic mountains that cover the central part of the island. To get up to the heights more quickly, we suggest that you take a local bus for the first stretch. You start the hike either in the small village of Fiaiano or in the somewhat larger Fontana. From here you walk up to Monte Epomeo, the island's highest mountain, and then to Capo dell'Uomo, the second highest. The trails are easy and comfortable to walk on. Through forest and vineyards, past caves and small villages, and with views over the sea, you walk down to Ischia's westernmost village, Forio. After a look at the village itself, we suggest a local bus along the north coast back to Ischia's harbor.

Accommodation on Ischia

After breakfast you get transfer to the harbor for a further boat trip to Capri, the island where even the Roman emperors spent their vacations. Check-in at the hotel in the calm and not so touristy Anacapri. With a chairlift you go up to the highest mountain on the island, Mount Solaro, and from there is a magnificent view over Capri, the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius, the Bay of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. When you've had your fill of this fabulous view, you hike down along the mountain ridge to the lighthouse at the very end of the west side. The hike then continues along the coast and ends at the world-famous Blue Grotto, from where you take the bus back to the hotel (of course it's also fine to walk). 

 Accommodation on Capri

The week's last hike is devoted to the more famous part of Capri. You will get to see the places that for centuries have fascinated and inspired so many people. First of all you pass the ”Piazzetta” and stroll through the charming back streets of the area. The hike then goes up to the ruins of one of the most impressive houses from Roman times and further on to Villa Iovis with its unique location and fantastic view. On the way back down towards the untouched southern coast, you will pass natural bridges, caves and finally Faraglioni, the three uninhabited rock islets. Through the Augustus Gardens and the magnificent Via Krupp you come down to Marina Piccola, from where you take a bus back to your hotel. Naturally, this day's tour can also be shortened or extended according to your own wishes. Walking time 4 or 5 hours.

After breakfast the trip ends with a boat to Naples and a local bus to the airport.
