Day 2: Circular hike around Lake Formarin See - 14 km, +50 m/ -500 m

In the morning, a transfer takes you to the idyllic lake Formarinsee where the Lechweg trail begins, approximately 1793 meters above sea level. Enjoy the fantastic view over the glittering mountain lake in front of you before continuing via Lech's river path back to Lech am Arlberg.

Day 3: From Lech am Arlberg - To Warth - 11 km, +300 m/ -300 m

You begin today's hike by walking high above the river, through idyllic farmland and over lush mountain meadows, before fascinating views deep down into the wild Lech gorge reveal themselves.
The route gradually ascends through the forest to the Walser village of Warth, where a natural swimming lake and the highest alpine dairy and slaughterhouse invite you to rest.

Day 4: From Warth - To Steeg - 15 km, +200 m/ -600 m

Today you hike further over the Krumbach stream to Gehren and now enter Tyrolean territory. The route leads you uphill to Lechleiten, to the start of the panorama trail. Enjoy the wonderful view in the Lechtal valley, far below you can see the river's glittering turquoise color. Via many paths the route leads you downward again, to the riverbank and through small villages all the way into the beautiful village of Steeg.

Day 5: From Steeg - To Elbigenalp - 18 km, +380 m/ -400 m

Experience the tranquility of the Jochweg trail as you hike along the river Lech. You then reach the beautiful village of Holzgau, characterized by its colorful painted houses. There awaits a very special highlight with the crossing of one of Europe's longest and most spectacular pedestrian bridges. You continue over blooming meadows and forest paths to Elbigenalp, the geographical center of the Lechtal valley and the heart of traditional woodcraft.

Day 6: From Elbigenalp - To Stanzach - 20 km, +400 m/ -550 m

A picturesque nature reserve leads you to Häselgehr, where we strongly recommend that you visit the beautiful parish church with its lavish interior before continuing along the trail up to the Doser waterfall.
There are many legends and stories surrounding this mystical natural phenomenon. Via a high-altitude path with fantastic views over the "wild river" you reach Stanzach, a peaceful village situated in the middle of a fantastic mountain world.

Day 7: From Stanzach - To Höfen - 19 km, +50 m/ -150 m

Today the river Lech once again shows itself from its wildest side: you hike over a barren river landscape, past Lechzopf to Forchach, where another suspension bridge dares brave hikers to cross over.
Over the Johannesbrücke bridge and through the Moosberg nature reserve you hike to Weissenbach. You then cross the river Rotlech and reach the quiet little village of Höfen.

Day 8: From Höfen - To Pflach - 11 km, +300 m/ -300 m

Today you hike via panorama trail to a beautiful viewpoint high up at the Costaries chapel. Continue past the glittering lake Frauensee and further into 'Pflacher Au'. From the so-called Bird Tower, a 20-meter high wooden construction, you can enjoy an impressive view over the wetlands near the river. You then hike further to Pflach.

Day 9: From Pflach - To Füssen - 15 km, +400 m/ -450 m

You now leave the river Lech and walk over meadows and through forests up over the border and all the way to Bavaria. Already in the distance you can make out the beautiful castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein in front of you! The impressive Lechfall waterfall marks the end of the Lechweg trail. In Füssen the final treat awaits when you visit the royal castles.
