Day 1: Arrival in Amalfi

Arrival and check-in at your hotel in Amalfi where you also receive your roadbook and detailed maps for the week's hiking.

Day 2: Valle dei Mulini – 9 km, +450 m/-450 m

Breakfast

Today's hike begins in Amalfi. An ancient staircase takes you up towards the small village of Pontone where you have a beautiful view over Amalfi on one side and Atrani on the other. The area offers several lovely picnic spots, all with dramatic views over the coast. Then you hike into the "Valle del Mulini", the valley of the watermills with its lush greenery and ancient mills in an almost fairy-tale landscape with several beautiful waterfalls. Via lemon groves you hike back to Amalfi where you have time to explore the charming town. Time approx 4-5 hours.

Day 3: Ravello - 9 km, +480 m/-480 m

You take the local bus up to Ravello (not included), one of the more exclusive villages along the coast and a beloved artists' village for centuries. Visit the magnificent Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone with their beautiful buildings, gardens and their unique view over the Gulf of Salerno. Then hike down through vineyards and lemon groves, on paths and steps via the small village of Castiglione to Atrani. The last stretch to Amalfi offers a beautiful view over the town. Time approx 4.5 hours.

Day 4: Sentiero degli Dei – 10 km

The day begins with a local bus to the small village of Bomerano located on the Agerola plateau. Here begins the hike on the Path of the Gods, one of Italy's most famous hiking trails. After a stretch with wide views over the entire Amalfi coast all the way to Capri, you reach the monastery of San Domenico, from where the view is fantastic. Here you can say that Sentiero degli Dei truly lives up to its name. After a while you come to the villages of Nocelle and Montepertuso. From there it's just a short hike down to Positano which is considered one of Italy's most beautiful towns. After a stroll through its streets, you take the local bus to Sorrento. Time approx 4.5 hours.

Day 5: Sorrento with possible day trip to Pompeii - 11 km, +600 m/-600 m

From Sorrento you can make day trips to Pompeii and Capri which we suggest in this program. If you choose Pompeii today, you get there by local train and spend as much time as you want at this fascinating archaeological site. Here you get the opportunity to become acquainted with how daily life appeared in an ancient Roman city.

Day 6: Sorrento with possible day trip and hiking on Capri - 11 km, +550 m/-550 m

From Sorrento you can make day trips to Pompeii and Capri which we suggest in this program. If you choose Capri today, you take the boat there and spend as much time as you want on this famous little island. You also have the opportunity to do a circular hike along the southern coast that takes you beyond the most common tourist areas. You begin by passing the Piazzetta and Capri's back streets before you make your way up to Villa Iovis from where you have a fantastic view. On the way down along the untouched coastline you pass Arco Naturale, a natural bridge, and several caves before you come to Faraglioni, three small uninhabited islands, just off the coast. Through Augustus gardens and along the beautiful promenade path Via Krupp you make your way down to Marina Piccola from where you take the bus back to the harbor for the boat trip back to Sorrento.
