Day 1: Arrival at La Gomera

Arrival at Tenerife airport and ferry crossing from Los Christianos to San Sebastian on La Gomera (optional). Check-in at the hotel where you will receive detailed hiking maps for the week's hike.

Day 2: From El Reventón Oscuro - To Chipude - 12 km, +750 m/-760 m

Breakfast

From the houses, gardens and terraced plantations in the Hermigua valley, you hike up towards the Garajonay National Park, La Gomera's green heart. Here you encounter the rainforest-like atmosphere of the dense vegetation that covers most of northern La Gomera. The trail continues up to the summit where you have a fantastic view over the island and towards La Palma, El Hierro and El Teide on Tenerife. The day ends with a short hike down towards Chipude. Time 5-6 hrs.

Day 3: From Chipude - To Vallehermoso - 16 km, +240 m/-1100 m

Breakfast

After passing through two beautiful valleys or "barrancos" you pass the pottery-making village of El Cercado to reach the most beautiful valley on the island - Barranco de Valle Gran Rey with its terraced plantations and palm groves. Feel free to stop in Las Hayas along the way and visit a traditional restaurant serving regional specialties. Then walk downhill along palm trees, heather and laurel trees to the hotel in the Los Loros valley. Time 5-6 hours.

Day 4: Round trip from Vallehermoso - 14 km, +735 m/-735 m

Breakfast

Today's hike takes you to a somewhat drier landscape. A longer climb leads up to the Santa Clara chapel, built high up on a mountain ridge. From here you have a fantastic view, 700 meters straight down and over the mountain peaks to the sea. Then follow a steep but well-marked trail down to a small cave along the coast. Return on foot to Vallehermoso. Time 5-6 hours.

Day 5: From Vallehermoso - To Hermigua - 18 km, +935 m/-1140 m

You hike up out of the valley and follow the trail via Las Rosas to the national park's visitor center at Juego de Bolas. The path then descends into the deep ravine Barranco de Argoto before climbing again towards the viewpoint El Mirador del Chorillo, with impressive views and 800 meters of vertical cliffs down to the valley. The trail continues along the heights with beautiful sea views before you make a final steep descent to the pleasant village of Hermigua, once inhabited by the Canary Islands' indigenous population, the Guanches.

Day 6: View towards Teide - 13 km, +735 m/-735 m

Breakfast

This hike begins with a short, steep climb. The route then leads into the fruit-producing part of the island where it is full of banana plants. After that, the landscape changes abruptly. A wide path with sparse vegetation passes several barrancos on the way to the sea. Experience one of the week's highlights, a fantastic view towards Tenerife and the El Teide peak. Time 4 hours.

Day 7: From Hermigua - To San Sebastian - 10/16 km, +125 m/-1025 m

10 km (16 km), +125 m/-1025 m

Breakfast

Choose between two different hikes, both of which take you back to San Sebastian. One is 9 km and the other is 13 km. If you choose the longer one, you will also pass a beach where you can swim. Some parts of the hike are in high terrain, but the trails are well maintained and marked. Time 4-5.5 hrs.

Day 8: End of the trip

Breakfast

The trip ends after breakfast. Return journey by ferry from San Sebastian back to Los Christianos on Tenerife (not included).
