Arrival to the small village of Leenane and check-in at your accommodation with views over Killary Harbour, Ireland's only fjord. You will be met by our representative, either today or early tomorrow morning, to go through the hiking materials.

You start the day with a taxi transfer to Killary Harbour where you begin your hike along the Famine Trail. The trail is a two to three hour hike along Ireland's only fjord. Dramatic coastal landscape, Mweelrea mountain and beautiful views await you. You continue along the Western Way all the way back to Leenane.

Today you have a full day and an overnight stay on Inishbofin - one of three islands just off Connemara. A taxi picks you up in the morning and takes you to Cleggan from where you take the ferry to Inishbofin. Your first glimpse of the island shows the well-preserved ruins of Cromwell's Barracks. Once there, you can choose between different circular walks on the island. There are good swimming opportunities here if the weather permits.

You return to the mainland by ferry to Cleggan where a taxi awaits you and drives you to Clifden, "the capital of Connemara". You have the day to explore this beautiful town as well as hike up to Clifden Castle. Enjoy a relaxing evening and the local atmosphere in the lively town.
8-25 km, 50-220 m up
Breakfast
A taxi picks you up after breakfast and takes you to Rossaveal and the ferry to Inishmore which is the largest of the Aran Islands. Here there are several sites of archaeological interest to explore, Dun Aengus, Dun Eoghasa and early Christian monasteries to name a few. You can discover them on foot or rent a bicycle. Stay overnight on the island and enjoy dinner at one of its restaurants.

Today you spend another night on the island. This is your chance to discover more of the island, and to visit all the places you didn't get to visit the day before.
