Day 3: From Bygdin - To Gjendebu - 14 km, +610 m

14 km, +610 m

Breakfast, lunchbox, dinner

The day begins with a boat trip from Bygdin to Torfinnsbu, and takes about 1 hour. When you arrive, the hike in Svartdalen begins. The hike through Svartdalen offers a fantastic view over the surrounding mountain peaks. Within these areas, discussions have been repeated about which peaks are most demanding and which are actually highest. Although it was long believed that Knutsholstinden was the highest peak, we know today that Knutsholstinden is 2341 meters, while Store Skagastølstinden is 2405 meters high.

However, it is not an easy hike as you need to cross some streams and the trail is quite rocky, here it is important to be steady on your feet. At the end awaits a steep downhill slope, in rain and wet conditions this part can be quite slippery.
