Hiking in Svaneti - Mestia to Ushguli

Arrival and overnight stay in Tbilisi. Georgia's capital borders east and west and stimulates visitors with its blend of old and new. The people are warm and hospitable, the scent of fresh bread and grilled food fills the air, and the entire city is beautifully situated by the Kura River, surrounded by hills.

Today you travel across the country to Svaneti in the far northwest. After your arrival, you can enjoy a traditional Georgian dinner and rest properly after the long journey. The adventure has begun!

After breakfast in the morning, you set out on a hike to the Chalaadi Glacier. This beautiful and easily accessible walk takes you through the forest to the foot of the glacier. After the hike, you will be transported back to Mestia, where you have free time for sightseeing in the city and can visit museums to learn more about the traditions and culture of Svaneti. An exquisite dinner is served in the evening at the same guesthouse.

After a good breakfast, you start your hike towards the charming village of Mulakhi. During the trek, the trail takes you through blooming meadows and dense forests, where nature's tranquility surrounds you. You climb to a viewpoint that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the mighty mountains Tetnuldi (4858 m), Laila (4008 m), and Ushba (4710 m). Then you continue through small villages, where old stone and defense towers stand as silent witnesses from the past, before reaching your cozy guesthouse in the Mulakhi community.

Today you continue your hike into the wild and untouched nature, where you climb to the area's ski resort at Mount Tetnuldi. During the hike, you take a pleasant walk through colorful alpine meadows, filled with wild flowers and the scent of fresh mountain air. The scenic trail leads you to the picturesque village of Adishi, located 2040 meters above sea level. In the evening, a well-deserved rest awaits, with an exquisite dinner and a good night's sleep in the charming, local guesthouse.

After a hearty breakfast, you follow the trail towards the scenic village of Khalde. On the way, you cross a river with the help of horses, which provides a unique and exciting experience. Then you begin the ascent of the Chkhunderi Pass at 2655 meters altitude. During the hike, you enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the impressive Adishi Glacier and its surrounding mountain landscape. After admiring nature's grandeur, you hike down to the valley by the Khaldechala River, where an easier trail leads you to the village of Iprali. Once there, dinner and a well-deserved night's sleep await.

After breakfast, you begin hiking through charming villages and lush forests, where you get to experience authentic rural everyday life. Finally, the gravel road leads you to Ushguli, Europe's highest permanently inhabited settlement at 2200 meters altitude and an impressive UNESCO World Heritage site. This picturesque village lies at the foot of the mighty Mount Shkhara, which at 5193 meters is Georgia's highest peak and Europe's fourth highest mountain. In the evening, a flavorful, traditional Georgian dinner is served and a pleasant overnight stay in the cozy guesthouse, where you can rest after the day's adventures.

After breakfast, the journey returns to Tbilisi with an estimated arrival time at 5 PM. Flight home the same day or extra night upon request.
