Today's hike goes from Assisi to Spello and you start walking uphill along the slope of Monte Subasio to Eremo delle Carceri, a magnificent monastery that St Francis often used for prayer. The trail continues through oak forest to San Benedetto. Finally, it goes slowly downhill to the medieval, walled town of Spello. Time approx 5 hours.

Before today's hike there is time to visit the beautiful medieval town of Spello, known for its pink stone houses.
Today's stage is a calm and pleasant walk through olive groves and vineyards to the lively town of Foligno, with fine views over surrounding mountains and valleys.
For those who want to hike a bit longer there is the possibility to choose an extra loop via the village of Collepino. Time approx 2-5 hours.

A short transfer takes you to Uppello where today's hike begins. A steep ascent leads up to Rocca di Scandolaro. You then continue through oak forest to Trevi, where you have the opportunity to taste the local olive oil. The hike continues along an old aqueduct before you reach Bovara di Trevi. Time approx 5 hours.

From Bovara di Trevi to Campello Alto you follow the "Via Francescana", the path that St Francis originally walked. You have wonderful views over the Spoleto valley. After passing Lenano you reach the small village of Poreta whose castle dominates the surroundings. Time approx 4 hours.

You start with a short transfer to Bazzano Superiore. A narrow path then takes you to the small village of Santa Maria di Regganio, where the old monastery houses beautiful murals from the 12th and 14th centuries.
You pass the village of Eggi and follow the old disused railway line into Spoleto. Alternatively, you can choose a longer but more spectacular route into the city, where you pass high above the Tessino stream via a medieval aqueduct that stretches across the valley.
From here you can enjoy fantastic views over the city and the surrounding landscape.
