Hiking in Provence - From Grasse to Antibes

Day 1: Arrival in Grasse

Arrival in Grasse on your own. The town is known for its perfume industry. Here you can visit the perfume museum and the cathedral which houses artworks by some of the great masters, including Rubens.

Day 2: From Grasse - To Pont du Loup - 18 km, +760 m/-930 m

From Grasse you head up to the heights and soon follow beautiful trails through the forests before enjoying a peaceful walk on a wide path with fantastic views. The steep climb towards the village of Bar sur Loup is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views. You descend to Bar sur Loup, where you can stop for lunch or a picnic before continuing along a forest road to Pont du Loup, your base for the next two nights. There is also the possibility to shorten today's route to 12 km by booking a taxi transfer (not included), please notify us at the time of booking if so.

Day 3: Circular hike via Gourdon - 11 km, +/-750 m (7 km, +/-620 m)

Breakfast

Today you have two options, hike up to Gourdon and back the same way, and if you feel like it add another short loop once in Gourdon you can do that. From the village follow the well-known Sentier du Paradis to "one of the most beautiful villages in France". It's a steep climb but all worth it, enjoy a hearty meal and admire the magnificent view from the edge of the village all the way to the Mediterranean and the famous Gorges du Loup where the river cuts through the deep ravines. If you feel like hiking more you can add a short loop that takes you above Gourdes.

Day 4: From Courmes - To Vence - 14 km, +395 m/-690 m

Breakfast

After breakfast a 15-minute transfer takes you into the heart of Gorges du Loup, to the small village of Courmes. From here you head up above the ravines along a steep and winding trail with breathtaking views. You reach beautiful Plateau St Barnabé, and the village of the same name with just a scattering of houses before beginning the descent to Vence, the sea glitters ahead of you as you walk down. You arrive at the lively historic town center of Vence.

Day 5: Circular hike from Vence

Breakfast

Today you have several different hikes to choose from, with different character and difficulty levels, or if you prefer to take a rest day that works well. At 5:00 PM a transfer takes you to Antibes where you spend the night.

Option 1: From Vence - To Saint Paul de Vence - 4.5 km, +95 m/-240 m
Starting in Vence's historic center you head out of town and enjoy a peaceful walk through the town's Sinus forests. From here you alternate between forest trail and paved road in fairly flat terrain. The view over St Paul de Vence as you approach is fantastic and you can admire a series of small chapels as you approach. Local bus back to Vence (not included).

Option 2: From Vence - To Tourrettes Sur Loup - 8km, +320 m/-280 m
Tourrettes is a picturesque medieval village backed by a series of hills, the trail between Saint-Paul de Vence and Tourettes-sur-Loup goes through the La Sine forest. At the destination you will be able to visit the village of Tourrettes-sur-Loup. Local bus back to Vence (not included).

Option 3: Circular hike via Baous Blancs & Baous Noirs - 12km, +/-712 m
A more challenging hike for the more experienced hiker, but all worth the effort as the view stretching from the snow-covered peaks of the Alps to the Mediterranean is outstanding. A Baou is a high, steep hill with a flat top.

Day 6: Hike Cap d'Antibes + Departure from Antibes - 4.5 km, +90 m/-90 m

Breakfast

A short 20-minute bus ride (not included) to Cap d'Antibes, for your last hike which starts at Garoup beach, Fitzgerald's favorite beach. A beautiful and easy hike along a trail that is paved in parts and rocky and untamed in others. The waves crash over the cliffs as you pass, and the view over the Lérins islands to the west, as well as the Baous of Vence and St Jeannet and the snow-clad peaks of the Alps to the east, is magnificent. After the hike ends you take bus no. 2 back to your hotel (not included).
