Day 1: Arrival in Monterosso

Welcome to Monterosso! Once you have settled in at the accommodation where you will spend your first four nights, we don't think there's anything else you'll want to do other than start exploring the town. Enjoy the fresh Mediterranean air, visit the historic center and eat something good in the evening to prepare for your first hiking day.

Day 2: Circular hike from Monterosso via Colla di Gritta - 9 km, +643 m/-1098 m

Breakfast

Today's hike begins inland where you will pass Chiesa del Cappucini to Colla di Gritta. Continue over the ridge through lush greenery and pass Monte Molinelli, Monte Rossini, Montenegro and Colla dei Bagari before reaching Punta Mesco which gives you beautiful views over the sea. Then return back to Monterosso via old stone stairs.

Day 3: Choose between different hiking options

Today you have three different hiking routes to choose from. All three offer magnificent views over the characteristic landscape of the Cinque Terre area.
Before you set off, go to the park information office at Monterosso train station to pick up your Cinque Terre pass.

Hike A: Circular hike from Monterosso via Vernazza
To avoid the steepest section at the beginning of the hike, you can take a taxi from Monterosso to the monastery in Soviore. If you prefer to walk, you hike on the old cobblestone road to Soviore. Once there, you can stop for a visit to the sanctuary, then continue on the asphalt road that leads you onto a trail. The trail offers panoramic views as you descend to Madonna di Reggio. The way home to Monterosso goes via Vernazza on a magical coastal trail.

Hike B: Circular hike from Monterosso via Corniglia/Volastra/Riomaggiore/Manarola
To reach the village of Corniglia, you start the day by taking a train from Monterosso. Once there, you hike on the trail that takes you towards Volastra and finally to the town of Riomaggiore. When you have reached Riomaggiore, you choose whether you want to take the train back to Monterosso or walk on the famous "Via dell'Amore" to the town of Manarola. End the day in Manarola by taking the train back to Monterosso.

Hike C: Circular hike from Monterosso via Vernazza/Corniglia
You hike along the popular and lively coastal stretch that connects the five villages of Cinque Terre. The trail follows the coastline which means both uphill and downhill sections where some stone stairs can be challenging. At the end of the day, you take the train back to Monterosso.

Day 4: Circular hike from Monterosso via Portovenere - 13 km, +723 m/-744 m

Breakfast

The day starts with a short train journey to Riomaggiore where today's adventure begins. The first 1.3 km the hike goes gradually uphill to Colle del Telegrafo from where you then descend on a mountain ridge to Portovenere, passing the village of Campiglia. Today's route is incredibly scenic with spectacular panoramic views of the Cinque Terre coast, Portovenere and La Spezia bay. If you want to shorten the hike, you can from Campiglia walk or take the bus to Marola, then take a bus to Portovenere. At the end of the hike, you take either train or boat back to Monterosso.

Day 5: From Monterosso - To Levanto/Bonassola - 10 km, +770 m/-774 m

Breakfast

Today's hike leads you along the coast on the most popular hiking trail in Liguria. Stop in Levanto for a visit to the center and Saint Andrew's church. Today's trail is characterized by spectacular views over Cinque Terre and Levante Ligure. If you don't want to hike the last part where the hike goes along the hills, you can take a train in Levanto or hike on the cycle path to Bonassola.
Time approx 3-4 hours.

Day 6: Circular hike from Bonassola via Deiva Marina - 12.5 km, +657 m/-643 m

Breakfast

Today you hike through the hilly landscape on the eastern riviera between Bonassola, Framura and Deiva Marina. The first part of the hike is very beautiful with wonderful panoramic views over the northern part of the Ligurian coast.
