Day 1: Arrival in Alquézar

Arrival to the charming little mountain village of Alquézar and check-in at your hotel. Alquézar is an oasis surrounded by terraced cultivations and irrigation channels. The rich local architecture represents both its Christian and Moorish heritage.

Day 2: From Alquézar - 10-12 km, +300 m/-300 m or +550 m/-570 m

Today you can choose between two different routes around Alquézar. The shorter one is through a varied landscape via the Rio Vero gorge with its Romanesque bridge to the small village of Asque. Then you make your way up to a mountain ridge past olive and almond groves to another historic bridge. The second, longer hike gives you beautiful views over the landscape all the way to the Pyrenees and takes you past caves with prehistoric cave paintings.

Day 3: From Alquézar - To Lecina - 11-15 km, +410 m/-280 m or +530 m/-410 m

Today's hike gives you an insight into the rocky landscape that is typical of the region. Fantastic views over the gorge before you make your way down to admire the clear water in it. The rock formations you encounter have exotic names like Arpan, Mallata and Barfaluy. Your hike ends in the medieval village of Lecina, with its traditional stone houses and our pleasant hotel.

Day 4: From Lecina - To Paules de Sarsa - 12 km, +340 m/-250 m

Today you make your way up to the beautiful mountain village of Almazorre. You pass an old olive and wheat mill before continuing over the open, rolling landscape with the occasional oak grove and additional mountain villages. You cross Rio Vero twice before reaching a green valley and the village of Paules de Sarsa, today's destination. Nearby lies the sacred site of Santa Maria de la Nuez.

Day 5: From Paules de Sarsa - To Rodellar - 15-20 km, +420 m/-730 m or +600 m/-950 m

You start the day with a short transfer (included). The hike then takes you through beautiful nature with the church spire from the abandoned village of Bagüeste in the distance. Further on you reach the ruins of Letosa and you can stop for a drink at a bar in Otin. The gorges of Isuala and Mascun display unusual rock formations along the way. You also have the opportunity to make your way down to a beautiful waterfall.

Day 6: From Rodellar - To Las Alumnias -11 km, +600 m/-670 m

Today's hike is short and offers fantastic views from the edge of the Balcez gorge. Here you can stop for a picnic lunch while watching for circling vultures above the valley and enjoying the view towards the peaks of the Pyrenees.

Day 7: From Las Alumnias - To Alquézar - 15-18 km, +750 m/-675 m or +675 m/-600 m

The way back to Alquézar is steep in places but it is clear and well-marked. You pass places with names like Trance de Olas (the waves' step) and Puente de Brujas (the witches' bridge). The route takes you through a narrow gorge, out into an open landscape and the picturesque village of San Pelegrin just before you reach Alquézar.
