A short morning transfer takes you to the start at Rotonda del Lupo where today's hike begins. The route is well marked but the trail is sometimes difficult to see. You head out into open terrain and have fine views towards the Majaletta mountains. At higher elevations you hike through birch forest. The wildlife is rich and if you're lucky you might spot deer or fox. Continue to Passo Lanciano where you stay tonight.

Today's destination is the small village of Decontra which is a charming and magical place, untouched by the passage of time. You hike along a mountain ridge and have spectacular views over the Majella mountains and the surrounding valleys.

Shortly after leaving Decontra you walk along an old donkey trail with panoramic views that takes you into the deep and narrow Orfento valley, carved by the river over millennia. The valley is one of the most spectacular places in the Apennines, both from a natural perspective and thanks to its aesthetic beauty.

Today's hike goes along the Giumentinadalen valley on gravel roads through wide pastures and fields with fantastic views over the landscape. There is an opportunity to make a detour and visit the charming San Bartolomeo hermitage. It is also possible to visit the ancient tombs, Tholos, which have recently been restored.

A short transfer (included) takes you to Sant´Eufemia where today's hike starts. The hike gradually ascends with spectacular views towards the Morrone mountains that sit majestically behind Caramanico Terme. Along the forest trails and across the meadows you also have fine views over the peaks of the Majella massif, Gran Sasso (Italy's highest mountain outside the Alps) and Monti della Laga. Once over the San Leonardo pass you descend towards the magnificent medieval village of Pacentro which offers wonderful views towards the Majella mountains and the town of Sulmona.
