Hiking Cinque Terre - Portofino to Portovenere

Accommodation in Camogli 

You walk up along one of the main trails to the village of San Rocco and then to the church of San Fruttuoso. From San Fruttuoso you can choose to hike or take the ferry to Portofino. Admire the fantastic view from Il Faro at the tip of the peninsula before taking the train or boat back to Camogli.

Today you start by taking the train to Bonassola (you bring your luggage on the train). After check-in you start a hike on the eastern riviera between Bonassola, Framura and Deiva Marina. The first part of this hike is very beautiful and offers fantastic views over the northern Ligurian coast. The hike can be shortened if you end it in Framura. Return to Bonassola by train.

Accommodation in Bonassola 

After breakfast you take the train to Deiva Marina from where today's hike starts. If you want to do a shorter hike you can instead start in Moneglia. The hike follows the rocky coastline and ends in Riva Trigoso which is one train stop from Sestri Levante which is worth a visit. Then take the train back to Bonassola.

Accommodation in Bonassola 

The first part of today's hike goes along a disused railway track. You walk through tunnels and over bridges and have spectacular views over the cliffs and sea until you reach the fine little town of Levanto: High up you have wonderful views over the mountains surrounding the bay. Continue towards Punta Mesco and then make your way down to Monterosso, the first (and largest) of the five Cinque Terre villages on your route.

Accommodation in Monterosso 

A short transfer (included) takes you to the monastery of Soviore which you can visit before setting off for today's hike back to Monteroso via the small, beautiful Vernazza. You walk along a beautiful panoramic trail down to Madonna di Reggio. Continue further down towards Vernazza where you will probably stop for a while before taking another panoramic trail back to Monterosso. If you want to shorten the hike you can end in Vernazza and take the train back to Monterosso.

The authors Shelley and Byron were inspired by their visits to Cinque Terre. Let yourself be inspired by this fine hike that offers spectacular views over the charming coastline. Start with a train journey to Riomaggiore and then hike through forest that takes you to a panoramic view over La Spezia bay and the nearby islands. Continue down to Portovenere. You return to Monterosso via La Spezia by bus/train or directly by boat.

The trip ends after breakfast. You can travel by bus to La Spezia from where trains depart in various directions.
