The journey begins with a bus trip from Oslo to Husum in Lærdal. Here you land directly in the authentic Norwegian environment by staying the first two nights at a historic hotel dating back to the 1800s. The King's Road is just a short walk away and depending on arrival time there's an opportunity to stretch your legs with a short walk in the surroundings before dinner is served. Here you get a first taste of the landscape that has made Sogn one of Norway's most beloved hiking areas.

Today's circular hike takes you from Husum along Øygardsvegen and further towards Seltunåsen. Here awaits the classic tour through the Galdane area before you return to Husum for another night. Along the way you pass rushing waterfalls, old farms and places surrounded by legends and local history. You also see remains from World War II. The hike is relatively easy and provides a nice introduction to the area's nature and cultural heritage.

Today you follow the historic Sverrestigen where King Sverre according to tradition escaped his enemies. The hike continues to the impressive Borgund stave church from the 1100s, one of Norway's best preserved medieval buildings. Then awaits Vindhellavegen, perhaps the most famous part of the King's Road, with its elegantly winding stone-paved curves through the slope. After the hike you collect your luggage and travel on by bus to charming Lærdalsøyri.

After some pleasant starting hikes, today awaits one of the trip's more challenging and spectacular hikes. From the ferry terminal in Fodnes the trail climbs steeply up from the fjord. The reward comes quickly in the form of ever-widening views over Sognefjorden. Here it usually really sinks in why Norway is considered one of the world's most beautiful countries. After about five kilometers you reach the old summer farms at Fagerset before the trail continues over the mountain back towards Lærdalsøyri. This is a classic fjord hike where the elevation differences are great but the views even greater.

After transfer to Seimsåsen today's hike begins towards Paradisjuvet. The path follows the heights above Sognefjorden and passes the peaks Mastrehaugfjellet and Brennfjellet. Throughout the entire tour you are treated to magnificent panoramas over the fjord and the surrounding mountains. The hike goes there and back along the same route and ends with transfer back to the hotel in Årdalstangen.

Today's highlight is the fairytale-like Utladalen. The path leads through a lush valley filled with flower meadows, waterfalls and verdant deciduous forest. The destination is Vettisfossen, the Nordic region's highest free-falling waterfall, where the water falls a full 275 meters. For those who want to and have experience there's an opportunity to continue up to the top of the waterfall via a steep and more demanding trail. This is one of the most memorable nature experiences in all of Norway and a worthy finale to the hiking journey in Sogn.
Breakfast, lunchbox
After breakfast it's time to leave the fjords behind you. The bus journey back to Oslo is included and you can book extra nights in the capital with us if you want to explore this pleasant little big city. For those who want to extend the nature experience there's an opportunity to continue to Bergen by boat through the fjord landscape and discover even more of western Norway.
