Arrival in Alba, the medieval city "with a hundred towers" and a treasure chest full of flavors and aromas in the heart of Piedmont's wine district. Spend the afternoon exploring the city and all the pastry shops offering divine delicacies and pastries.

The day begins with a transfer to Roddi where you then start your hike. You walk through rolling, hilly terrain and you have several opportunities to taste wine before reaching the rustic, elevated village of La Morra. On a clear day you can see the alpine peaks in the distance and Mt Monviso which remains snow-covered until the beginning of summer. In La Morra you can also visit the Ratti Museum and learn more about the wine region's tradition & history. Further along the way you have Cantina Communale (closed on Tuesdays) which has a wide selection of wines to both taste and buy. The day's hike ends in Vergne/Barolo.
The hike can be shortened by about 4 km if you start in Verduno instead of Roddi.

On today's hike you pass the old village of Novello with its medieval tower before reaching the wine capital Barolo. Here you can both visit the museum in Castello dei Marchesi Faletti and have lunch at a local trattoria. Then continue the hike with varied terrain through vineyards and forest until you reach Monforte d`Alba, a beautiful and elevated village.

The landscape will be significantly more varied during the day than previous days' hikes. Leave vineyards behind you and hike to the ancient village of Serralunga d'Alba which is surrounded by hazelnut plantations and forests. A steeper ascent then takes you further to Roddino from where a long descent then takes you to the final ascent up to Cissone.

After a shorter hike in the surroundings around Cissone there is plenty of time to take it easy and unwind. Admire the fantastic view that surrounds the town with vineyards, castles and fortresses and why not enjoy a glass of local wine from one of many local cantinas in the village center.

The landscape changes during the day when you reach the higher part of Langhe with characteristic hazelnut forests. Slopes that are too steep to cultivate are filled with oak forests. It is also in this area that you find Langhe's fame, the white truffle. If you don't find it underground, you'll definitely find it at one of the exquisite restaurants in the town.

Enjoy a fantastic hike through an incredibly varied landscape with everything from wider forest paths to smaller grass trails. Once you reach Cortemilia the trails are replaced by narrow cobblestone streets. During the day you will experience everything from the villages Torre Bormida and Bergolo, to hazelnut plantations and dense chestnut forests. If the weather is good you can also see the Alps over the hills here.
