Cycling Western Lake Constance

Arrival in the university town of Konstanz. There will be plenty of time to explore the city with its many attractions such as the town hall and the Rosgarten Museum. You can either end the evening with dinner at one of the many restaurants, or enjoy a beer in one of the lively taverns.

Today's route first takes you via a lake lined with poplar trees to the island of Reichenau. You then cycle to Radolfzell, where you can admire the winding alleys with beautiful noble and patrician houses. You continue your journey on small paths around the Höri peninsula to Stein am Rhein. Stein am Rhein is considered one of the best-preserved medieval small towns in Switzerland, with its city gates and colorful fresco-decorated houses. Visit the Lindwurm Museum before reaching Gailingen, the pearl of the High Rhine.

After cycling through picturesque fishing villages, you reach Ermatingen, where you can visit the Vinorama Museum. The cycle path then leads back to Konstanz. Enjoy a stroll through the old town's winding alleys. The Middle Ages come to life in the Rosgarten Museum, where you can relax in the cafeteria's courtyard.

Today's first highlight is the flower island of Mainau – a nature experience all year round. Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature before your route goes via Bodanrück to Bodman with its castle park, a sight worth seeing. You cycle past the baroque monastery church of Birnau to Uhldingen, which is famous for its pile dwellings. In Meersburg, you take the ferry back to Konstanz. If you don't want to cycle the somewhat hilly section between Wallhausen and Bodman, we recommend traveling by ferry (not included) from Wallhausen to Überlingen. This will shorten the cycling tour by approximately 25 km.
